  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 Celsius degrees). Base and line two seven-inch (18cm) sandwich tins.
  2. Cream the butter/margarine with the sugar until it’s light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing everything as you go.
  3. Fold in the flour, baking powder, almonds, and the coffee. Divide the mixture between both the tins.
  4. Bake in the oven for half an hour, or until the cake has risen well and feels firm when touched. Take it out of the oven and allow it to cool on the wire rack.
  5. Cream the butter and sugar for the filling until it’s light and fluffy. Stir in the coffee and use one-third of this mixture to sandwich the two caked together.
  6. With the remainder of the spread, pipe medium dots on the borders on top of the cake. Sprinkle coffee powder on top of the cake and add the coffee beans on the side. Serve and enjoy!
